内容简介/ Abstract:
This paper studies how the rise of e-commerce affects manufacturing markups in China. While existing research emphasizes consumer-side mechanisms such as lower search costs, price comparison, and expanded market access, e-commerce may also reshape upstream–downstream relationships by altering distribution wedges and competitive conditions. We develop a simple framework showing that the effect of e-commerce on manufacturing markups is theoretically ambiguous, and examine this relationship using Chinese manufacturing firm data from 2007–2016. Exploiting cross-industry variation in e-commerce exposure, we document systematic markup responses to the expansion of online retail, with heterogeneous patterns across firms and industries.

唐立鑫,现任暨南大学经济与社会研究院长聘教授,于2015年获得马里兰大学经济学博士学位。研究领域为国际经济学、发展经济学,研究成果发表于Journal of International Economics, Journal of Development Economics, Review of Economic Dynamics, Journal of Economic Behavior and Organization,《管理世界》,《经济学(季刊)》等国内外知名期刊,主持国家自然科学基金面上项目和青年项目。
