内容简介/ Abstract:

We examine the effect of corporate discredit postings by the Supreme People's Court of China on the financing, investment and valuation of Chinese listed firms. We find that such postings are negatively associated with the growth rate of bank loans. Firms that receive stronger investor attention or have poor corporate governance suffer more severely from discredit postings. We also find a negative effect on alternative financing, investment, sales and R&D. Additionally, we identify a positive spillover effect to the neighboring firms and a reversal effect after the removal of postings. Our event study results suggest a negative effect on corporate valuation.

陆利平，中国人民大学财政金融学院教授、博士生导师。主持和参与多项国家自科和社科基金项目，在《经济研究》、《世界经济》、《金融研究》、JFI、JBF等国内外一流杂志发表过多篇文章，主要研究方向为银行学和金融监管。现任European Journal of Finance杂志副主编。
