On November 11th, 2023, the themed seminar on “Accounting and Financial Research under the Background of Great Changes” was successfully held at Shenzhen University. Scholars from well-known domestic and foreign universities such as Singapore Management University, The Hong Kong Polytechnic University, Tsinghua University, Fudan University, and Shenzhen University have conducted in-depth exchanges and discussions on cutting-edge issues in accounting and financial research.

Gu Wei, Vice Dean of the Shenzhen University WeBank Institute of FinTech (SWIFT), warmly welcomed the arrival of outstanding scholars on behalf of the institute, introduced the development process, academic research, and educational achievements of the institute, and wished the seminar a success.

The academic seminar in the morning was hosted by Professor Wu Liansheng from Southern University of Science and Technology. Professor Zhang Liandong from Singapore Management University gave a keynote speech titled “How Labor Market Competition Shapes Workplace Information on Social Media: Evidence from Glassdoor Reviews”. Subsequently, teachers Li Ming’er from Shenzhen University and You Jiaxing from Xiamen University respectively gave paper reports, while teachers Li Sheng and Zheng Ying from Sun Yat-sen University commented on the papers.

    

The academic seminar in the afternoon was hosted by Ge Rui, Vice Dean of the Shenzhen University WeBank Institute of FinTech (SWIFT). Professor Zhang Ran from Renmin University of China gave a keynote speech on “Fundamental Quantitative Investment - Integration and Innovation of Academic and Investment”. The latest research results were reported by Professor Zeng Cheng and Professor Xiang Yi from The Hong Kong Polytechnic University, and Professor Zhang Weining from Cheung Kong Graduate School of Business. In addition, the papers were reviewed by Professor Ni Chenkai from Fudan University, Professor Xin Qian from Harbin Institute of Technology (Shenzhen), and Professor Wang Zigan from Tsinghua University.

    

This was a practical cultivation that “combines theory with practice and promotes learning and research”. Through the wonderful sharing and in-depth discussion of experts and scholars at present, the attendees have broadened their academic horizons and deepened their understanding and acknowledge of related fields. The successful holding of this seminar has promoted exchanges and cooperation among colleagues in the academic community, and effectively strengthened academic connections between sister universities. It was hoped to have more outstanding scholars come to our institute for academic exchange and cooperation, to jointly explore cutting-edge academic issues, share research results and experiences, and improve academic level and research capabilities through exchange and cooperation.
