In order to strengthen the construction of an integrity culture in the New Era, establish a solid foundation for the comprehensive and strict governance of the Party, and implement the theme of the University Discipline Education and Learning Month, on the morning of November 16th, the Institute of FinTech invited Li Jinsheng, Secretary of the Discipline Inspection Commission of the Shenzhen Branch of Bank of China, to give an integrity culture course to students of the institute titled “Promoting the Spirit of Integrity and Self Revolution to be a Backbone in the New Era”. The lecture was hosted by Liu Haishan, Secretary of the Institute Party Committee. A total of more than 100 teacher and student Party members, Party activists, and representatives of freshmen participated in this event.

Before the formal start of the lecture, Wang Yuexing, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee and Secretary of the Discipline Inspection Commission of Shenzhen University, met with Li Jinsheng in the VIP lounge of the Science and Technology Building. Wang Yuexing welcomed and appreciated Li Jinsheng’s third lecture on integrity culture at Shenzhen University, and expressed gratitude to the Shenzhen Branch of Bank of China for their strong support of the University’s work. He hoped that this integrity culture class would have a positive and far-reaching impact on the growth and success of students.

Liu Haishan pointed out in his opening speech that for FinTech talents, a integrity background was crucial. Only by combining integrity, professionalism, and patriotism could students better achieve personal growth and serve the development of the country.

Li Jinsheng opened the speech of this integrity culture class with the introduction of “fastening the first button well”. He talked vividly about the origin of integrity culture in the history of Chinese civilization, the development of integrity culture in the history of political thought, the inheritance of integrity culture by the CPC, the harm of corruption in the New Era, and some suggestions for university students in the New Era to share his thoughts and insights on integrity culture. Li Jinsheng started from the root of the word “integrity” and tells the story of the long history of China’s culture of integrity. The fundamental reason why feudal dynasties were unable to escape the cycle of history can be inferred from the four small stories about integrity in ancient times: firstly, the lack of integrity caused a lack of popular support, and secondly, the inability to discover their own problems and correct them in a timely manner. He combed the inheritance of the integrity culture by the CPC and pointed out that the Communists have always been on the journey of adhering to their own hearts, fighting corruption and self-revolution. He used cases in education, finance, and other fields to explain the dangers of corruption in the New Era, ringing the alarm for integrity for students.

Li Jinsheng sent a message to university students in the New Era: “We should calibrate our course with our ideals and beliefs, train our true skills with real talent and practical learning, set a good example with integrity, and demonstrate our hard responsibility with hard work and dedication. Students should abide by the right mindset, follow the right course, take the straight path, and uphold our righteousness. We should strive to be the successors of our great dreams, the new force of our great cause, and write a youthful chapter that is worthy of the times and history.”

After the lecture, Lou Zhuonan, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee of the institute, shared her listening experience. She said, “This integrity culture class has stories, cases, strong historical depth, vivid images, which are clear and easy to understand. Integrity is closely related to each and every one of us, and I hope that students will internalize integrity awareness in hearts and externalize it in our actions in the present and future.” She hoped that students could be honest and upright in their future work positions, take integrity work and jointly maintain a clean and upright culture of integrity.

After listening to this lecture on integrity culture, the students have benefited a lot. Students expressed that as students majoring in FinTech, they shoulder the mission of promoting financial development and serving economic construction. They must always adhere to noble professional ethics, forge a clean foundation for future development, and tie the “integrity button” for life!
