rom May 12 to 16, we invited the distinguished Prof. Roderick J. Brodie, Emeritus Professor and former Dean of the Business School at the University of Auckland, along with his delegation for an academic exchange. Thisexchange wasintended to better implement the "14thFive-Year Plan" of Shenzhen University, enhance international research and academic cooperation, and leverage the platform of SAFTI as an international academic institution to bring in high-quality educational resources from abroad.
The University of Auckland is New Zealand's leading tertiary education and academic research institution, ranking 68thglobally and 1stin New Zealand in the QS World University Rankings for 2024. Prof. Roderick J. Brodie from the University of Auckland is not only one of the top 0.1% highly cited scientists globally in the fields of business and economics, but alsoone ofthe founding presidents of the Australia New Zealand Marketing Academy. He is the author of more than 130 academic publications in top international journals, and the winner of a variety of major academic honors.
In his nearlyone-week visit, Prof. Roderick J. Brodie and his delegation delivered a series of informative lectures and workshops on academic research, teaching methodology and international cooperation. These events not only provided the participants with opportunities to share their experiences and exchange ideas, but also offered professional guidance on deepening the international cooperation between SAFTI and renowned overseas universities, bringing new energy and vitality into the internationalization prospect of SAFTI.
Lecture:Market Shaping for the Circular Economy
On the afternoon of May 12th, Prof. Roderick J. Brodie presented an insightful lecture on "Market Shaping for the Circular Economy", which was actively attended by both Chinese and international students as well as faculty members in SAFTI, which are from China, France, Germany, Czech Republic, Turkey, BulgariaandUruguay.

He started the lecture with China's history of circular economy development and explained the importance of circular economy and its strategic role in the current global economic development. He also pointed out the 10 requisites of development research, including 5 operational and 5 dynamic capabilities, and elaborated on their practical application in market shaping with reality cases.
At the conference, teachers and students from different countries and cultural backgrounds gathered together to listen to this academic feast and share their experiences and insights. By interacting closely with top scholars, they gained a deeper understanding of the latest trends in the field and inspire academic interest and innovation.
Teaching Seminar:Team-based Learning
On the morning of May 13th, Dr. Herbert Sima, together with Professor Roderick J. Brodie, conducted a teaching seminar on the theme of "Team-based Learning". Dr. Herbert Sima is the Program Director of the Marketing Department at Business School of the University of Auckland. He has published numerous academic papers in international top-tier journals. In addition, he is a board member of Research Association New Zealand (RANZ) and the CEO of Early Education Group. He also holds certificates of Disruptive Strategy, Sustainable Business Strategy, and Strategy Execution from Harvard University.

In the seminar, Dr. Herbert Sima explained the strategies, challenges and successes of the University of Auckland in utilizing Team-Based Learning as a transformative teaching methodology for business education, and shared progressive pedagogical approaches. This seminar provided a platform for the audience to share their experiences and exchange ideas, and helped the young faculty of SAFTI cultivate in-depth thinking about teaching research and methodology.
The College of Economics and the College of Management in Shenzhen University also contributed to this international academic exchange by hostingtwo"Early Career Workshops" and the seminaron"Crafting and Publishing Your Research Paper: Advice from Editorial Experience" at Lihu Campus, expanding the opportunities of international academic exchanges for teachers and students.
In the future, SAFTI will continue to explore new patterns and approaches for international cooperation, share high-quality international resources with sister colleges, and contribute more to the internationalization of Shenzhen University.
